Connecting Messaging Channels

OpenClaw supports connecting to various messaging platforms including WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord, Slack, and more.

Supported Channels

WhatsApp

Prerequisites:

  • WhatsApp Business API account
  • Verified phone number
  • Business profile

Setup:

  1. Get WhatsApp Business API credentials
  2. Configure in OpenClaw settings
  3. Set up webhook
  4. Test connection

Telegram

Prerequisites:

  • Telegram bot account
  • Bot token from @BotFather

Setup:

  1. Create a bot via @BotFather
  2. Copy the bot token
  3. Configure in OpenClaw
  4. Test the bot

Discord

Prerequisites:

  • Discord server
  • Bot application
  • Bot token

Setup:

  1. Create Discord application
  2. Add bot to server
  3. Configure permissions
  4. Get bot token
  5. Configure in OpenClaw

Slack

Prerequisites:

  • Slack workspace
  • Slack app

Setup:

  1. Create Slack app
  2. Add OAuth scopes
  3. Install to workspace
  4. Configure in OpenClaw

Testing

After configuring a channel, test it by:

  1. Sending a message
  2. Checking OpenClaw logs
  3. Verifying AI response
  4. Ensuring proper routing
